First of all, I am very grateful to Ms. Song Xue for giving me this opportunity to get in touch with translation in a real sense.
After receiving the assignment on July 20, I started to look up the information on the Internet that afternoon, and probably understood the business of the customer's company as well as the purpose of the customer's exhibition, which is very important in my opinion, and also makes the preparation work have a certain target.
The whole day of 7.21 went well, we had dinner with the client after the job and the whole process was enjoyable. At the end of the day, I also asked the client how satisfied they were with the work, and the client said they were very satisfied. This is also very important in the work, to understand their own task completion to the task counterpart, in order to summarize and improve in the future.
The following points summarize the areas of satisfaction and areas for improvement in this translation work:
- Understand in advance the purpose of the exhibition of customers, do targeted preparatory work.
- Pay attention to the atmosphere during your trip. You may start a conversation that is not related to your work, but you know when to stop.
- Basically, after an hour, we know what customers will want to know when they arrive at the booth they are interested in, and we will communicate with the booth staff in advance, so that they can answer the next question directly when they mention it politely and improve efficiency.
- Really treat your clients like your own boss. In fact, with this one, everything else that needs to be taken care of falls into place.
- After staying abroad for a long time, my ability to express myself in Chinese has declined, so I will focus on reading more Chinese literature in the future.
- In the translation process, there are about 5%-10% professional terms that I don't know how to translate, but fortunately, the customer and the booth staff understand technology, and they have been solved through communication, but in the future, we need to learn more about the industry terminology.
- Exhibiting is a physical work, has been constantly wearing high heels to walk for five or six hours is a bit too much to eat, but also to strengthen the movement.
