Picture 1 and 2 were still taken in 2012 and 2013, just a year or two into interpreting at that time.
I personally love florals, but for translation occasions I try to dress a bit plainer, so I wore black florals!
The one in pink flower dress was walking around the university town with an overseas client, belonging to the ground guide. The client was introduced by the Australian Consulate in Shenzhen, and after that single transaction, the Australian Consulate became a regular client of the company. The two overseas professors said that the young tour guide from Shenzhen (I was only 26 at that time after all) was very good, friendly, funny and smart.
Then the Australian Consulate kept working with me on all major and minor matters, and recommended friends from the Canadian Consulate to work with me, and then the Israeli Consulate, so I accumulated a variety of clients at the major consulates.
That's how clients are built up single-handedly, and as long as I'm out there, clients will definitely start with us for ten years.
A bit of a tangent, back to the point. I still like florals for translation occasions, I have my own style of dressing, don't expect me to wear black, white and gray. I like YCH suits, they have a high class look. Even if I just go to the exhibition to do interpretation for a day, the aura should be pulled full.
Now clients either call me Sister Xue or Mr. Song. I'm not the same Song anymore, but I don't do much translation myself anymore, mainly because there's not much translation business in Shenzhen.
